The log cabin at Ladywood is situated among mature jack pine trees on a gently sloping hill overlooking the lake and the food and flower gardens. Handcrafted from local red pines and completed in 2003, the cabin follows a traditional one-room style with the added conveniences of a full separate bathroom, a well-appointed kitchen, and hot and cold plumbing throughout. The floors are poplar hardwood planking (locally-sourced and manufactured on-site) and ceramic tile.
The kitchen is equipped with a table, chairs, a small refrigerator, a gas stovetop, toaster, dishes, pots and pans, cutlery, candles and other amenities. You simply provide food and drink, and perhaps a flashlight or lantern for nighttime excursions. Our water is crystal clear and pure, the perfect refreshment on a hot summer's day.
Sleeping accommodations feature a trundle bed (two comfortable double beds, one rolling away under the other for more daytime floor space) with a dividing privacy curtain. All bedding and linens are provided.
On cooler days guests can cook a pot of delicious homemade soup while keeping the cabin cozy by firing the cast iron woodstove. (We provide the wood.) What better way to pass a rainy afternoon than basking in the warmth of a woodstove, curled up in a comfy chair with a good book? Alternatively, the shelves inside the cabin house a radio, games, puzzles and an eclectic selection of reading materials for your entertainment.
Just off the porch guests will find a large picnic table, a fire pit for camp fires and a charcoal barbeque. Again, we provide the wood but guests must provide their own charcoal brickettes. A hammock also lies just outside the cabin: the perfect place for a bit of wakeful relaxation, watching birds at the feeder or gazing at the lake, or for taking a wee cat nap as a gentle breeze rocks the pines.
